Application for Graduation with an Advanced Degree
Graduation is not automatic upon the completion of degree requirements. An Application for Graduation with an Advanced Degree is only available from the Graduate Division and must be filed with the appropriate fee at the Cashier's Office.
Students are encouraged to apply the semester prior to anticipated graduation as the deadline for each semester usually occurs during the second week of classes. No late applications are accepted! NOTE: If the student does not complete all course requirements in the term for which s/he applied, the student must reapply for the semester when graduation is expected. (Note: For students in thesis, the course requirement is complete after the student has paid fees at Montezuma Publishing for the University hardbound and microfiche copies, plus any required departmental copies for the thesis.)
The Graduate Division will mail an Evaluation for Graduation to every student (and their department) who has applied for graduation.
The student and the Graduate Adviser should review the Evaluation for Graduation and appropriate action should be taken if necessary.
The Graduate Advisor and student should maintain contact if the student must file necessary forms.
At the end of each semester the Graduate Evaluators will prepare a final evaluation of the student's file, and either a Cancellation Notification or a Certification of Graduation will be prepared for each student. Copies of the Cancellation Notification is sent to the student's graduate advisor and the student.
If questions arise concerning an evaluation the Graduate Adviser or student may contact the appropriate Evaluator in the Graduate Division. The student's diploma will be the only confirmation of graduation mailed to the student. The student may request official transcripts from the office of the Registrar (594-7800).
The Graduate Division cannot fulfill requests for transcripts.
